About Us
Leaven
Leaven is a new not-for-profit vegetable box distribution scheme, run as part of SMART London. Our mission is to provide employment and training to those with a history of mental ill health and addiction. With our veg scheme we also aim to remove the barriers that keep some people in our community from having regular access to fresh and healthy food.
Our Ethos
Our ethos stretches not just to the people we work with, but to the whole supply chain. We source all produce from Growing Communities, a member of Better Food Traders. All produce is organic and sourced from planet friendly farms located as close to London as possible. To add a
bit of variety, we also purchase a small amount of
produce from like-minded farms on the
continent through Langridge Farm.
Good Food
It’s not possible to overstate the importance of access
to good, nutritious food. When everyone in society has
that access, we all benefit through better health,
more successful educational outcomes, and a
more sustainable future.
